Kelloggs and Miller Park is a not for profit historic industrial site. Sitting on 4 acres, consisting of five buildings each of different designs built from 1834 to 1905. Featuring a building from the former Half Moon Distillery, a waterfall which powered the site, a trestle and track from when kelloggs and Miller pioneered rail spur throughout the area. Influencing the rail system in the region. The company pressed linseed, also known as flax seed, and processed the oil into more than five products, eventually branching to become the largest major industrial supplier to the paint industry.
Carpets, weaving, garments and paper are also among industries bringing even greater fame to the city.
Integrated with Amsterdam NY’s historic Five Corners, a flared six leg obtuse tangent intersection, where viaducts and major arteries converge, an exchange hub for all logistics, is yet to this day the most efficient design solution to accommodate flow, access and distribution for high volumes of commerce and bustling commuters. The tip of the heart of Amsterdam’s central industrial corridor. Albeit carriage, trolley and train have not graced the grounds for some time, Five Corners became famous for cross weaving Amsterdam’s southern corridor bustling with commerce dotting the Mohawk River, with Amsterdam's northern industrial corridor. Kelloggs and Miller Park shares this famous site and is being transformed into a splendiferous botanical garden and historic building conservancy.
We like how our section of Five Corners provides a safety stop for truckers headed for Interstate 90. Several times throughout the day trucks pull over into our lot to check their load, their equipment, or take a safety break. To wait out a heavy snow or stretch legs, we happily lend our part.
Appreciating these historic intersections of five corners, enhancing the landmarks that they are, instead of greatly disturbing or destroying them that so many postindustrial communities do. We believe that we should begin to better practice being money wise and longsighted.
To broaden the reach of projects like this, we have a vision for the former strip mall at Five Corners that was sitting on the former Kelloggs pond, now filled. Offering more botanical gardens, more trails along the Chuctanunda Creek, a dredging of the creek deeper and wider, adding a tourist pavilion providing healthy snacks, an RV park, ultra engaging mini golf (not hello kitty), a BMX track and a city shared equipment shed.
Engaging in mini golf designed in a way to hone gaming skills and skills required to tabulate scores.
Hosting BMX regional meets would contribute to fulfilling the essential variety of outdoor physical and social activities.
Persons not on a ball team or in track and field, tend to fit into BMX.
Amsterdam has miles of creek area dotted with historic sites, one of which is a fantastic old powerhouse. Help us with our visions to leverage sites for their activities potentials and for simply enjoying and exploring nature. It is our goal to put into the community and not accept public monies. Compared to public funding, private contributions to projects beneficial to the community reduce the tax burden so that we can invest more and earn more. Enabling more private contributions. Directly investing our earnings and works into the community. An efficient cycle that gives unto itself.
